Raniban Retreat is a secluded hill top hotel, perched 420m above Phewa Lake, and the town of Pokhara.

Raniban Retreat Pokhara is only 7 km from Pokhara airport, and 5 km from Pokhara itself, but away from the bustle and noise of the Lakeside tourist hotels. Raniban Retreat is the best choice in the valley for privacy and seclusion. This hotel shares our hilltop with only the World Peace Pagoda.

The real glory of Raniban is the stunning view. From our terraces one can enjoy heart stopping views across Phewa Lake to the mighty Annapurna ranges. Raniban Retreat is the only accommodation in Pokhara where you can choose to stay in a brand new luxury lodge with bamboo roofing.

Rooms of Raniban Retreat Pokhara are cosy, clean, and share the stunning view to the north. Our excellent restaurant serves food to match the view.

There are two ways to reach Raniban Retreat.

By Walking, More active visitors can come by rowing and boat and a trek up well maintained and signed trails, via the World Peace Pagoda. Expect the trek to take around 1 hour plus stops at the tea houses on the way, and to visit the Peace Pagoda

By vehicle, we follow the World Peace Pagoda access road for 15 minutes. The road is a little rough, but accessible by taxi, or local bus.

However you reach our gates, the last few minutes are on foot, up almost 500 stone steps to a welcome drink on our panoramic terrace. It takes a little effort to get to Raniban, but we are worth it!

Whether you want to rest after a trek to the high mountains, to recover from travelling, or a hectic life in the city, Raniban Retreat offers a great mix of location, tranquility and good food.

There is no danger of relaxing too much! Raniban Retreat is surrounded by some of the best hiking and mountain biking trails that Pokhara has to offer. All sorts of outdoors activities can be arranged by our friendly staff, from fishing to hilltop treks to paragliding and mountain biking on forest trails.

Mountain View Lodges
Image

We have 7 mountain view lodges. We call them our mountain view lodges because each one has a double width picture window looking out onto the best view in Pokahara. 3 8,000m peaks over a 200km vista. Each lodge has a queen sized double bed and a single bed, so they can be comfortably used by a couple, two friends sharing or a small family.

Lodges
Besides  our 7 mountain view lodges, we have 3 other lodges. Each one has a double width picture window looking out onto some of the best views in Pokahara, but they don’t have quite the same direct view of the mountains as our other lodges. So we make them a little lower in price – and guests still get to soak up the awesome mountain views from our terraces, gardens & roof tops.

Inside the lodges have the same layout. Each lodge has a queen sized double bed and a single bed, so they can be comfortably used by a couple, two friends sharing or a small family.

When booking for two people advise whether you wish to have two twin beds, or one queen sized double bed.The lodges have a desk and chair, bamboo shelves two reading lamps, ensuite bathrooms and benefit from solar powered warm water and 24 hour electricity on solar/battery back up.

We are constantly improving the rooms so that they are as comfortable, and as good value as we can make them. The full tariff for a lodge is per room (based on two people sharing, with bed & breakfast), but our online prices start from – depending on availability & season.

Because we like our lodges, and the views from them, we’ve given them names, reflecting the scenary visible from the rooms:

Bamboo Lodges & Tent
We build our reputation on the supurbly characterful rooms we had when Raniban first opened – tents with ensuite bathrooms, built on bamboo platforms, and 4 luxury bamboo bungalows.Raniban is a lovely spot, but the sun, the wind (and in the monsoon, the rain) are all strong. They were too much for the tents and we have taken them down for repairs, and a rest. We will put them back up during 2014, outside of the rainy season, so tent fans please check back then.

Our lovely Bambo lodges have also done their service, and we’ll take them down during 2013 and replace them with new, comfy lodges.

For those who knew & loved Raniban as it was, here are a couple of photographs, for old time’s sake!
