Dwarika’s Resort Dhulikhel is situated among pristine forests of pine, rhododendron and apple trees 45 minutes from Kathmandu and half hour from Dhulikhel city. Dwarika’s Resort is located at an altitude of 1700 meters allowing the freedom of a 180-degree view of the mighty Himalayas, the Kavrepalanchok valley below and most amazing sunrises and sunsets. The focus of this beautiful relaxing place is a ‘Himalayan approach to well-being’ in rustic luxury.

The resort is spread over 20 acres of gentle slopes and the 36 comfortable rooms come in two different categories. The ‘Newari’ rooms have most character whereas the ‘Gurung’ rooms are a bit further up the mountain, have a larger window and thus offer slightly better views. The restaurant and reception are located in an attractive building that – although Nepal has not been colonised at any stage in its history – has a subtle colonial feel to it.

The Pancha Kosha Himalayan Spa, an integral part of the resort, offers a fabulous range of treatments and activities; as well as body treatments and yoga there is a Himalayan salt room and meditation room inspired by a blend of Vedic Philosophy and Buddhist Medicine, the chance to throw clay with the resident potter or visit the vegetable farm with the chef. The restaurant, lounge and bar are situated in a central building with numerous other spots ideal for a snack or chilling with a drink. The lovely grounds are host to birds, butterflies and even deer, with viewpoints for admiring both sunrise and sunset, but if you want to get active, mountain bikes and guides are available on request for exploring the surrounding hills and Newari villages. Dwarika’s Resort also makes an excellent base for a variety of walks and hikes in the surrounding hills and valley.
